35 by 35

On March 17, 2012, I will be 35 years old.  There are some things that I have been wanting to accomplish by this age, namely having my own business and starting a family.  In the spirit of the new year and inspired by one of my favorite bloggers Fat Bridesmaid, many of these goals will hopefully be accomplished, or well on their was in 2011 and give me a push for great things next year!


  1. Get acupuncture
  2. Begin practicing yoga and meditation
  3. See a Broadway play
  4. Visit California
  5. Learn to play guitar
  6. Learn Italian
  7. Go back to school
  8. Learn to drive
  9. Move into my grandmother's house
  10. Reach my goal weight
  11. Take a roadtrip with friends
  12. Write a book
  13. Start a podcast with my husband 
  14. Learn to relax
  15. Have a spa weekend with the girls
  16. Seriously get the business plans that I started underway 
  17.  Sell unneeded items in the house and declutter
  18. Pay down student loans
  19. Create a budget and stick to it
  20. Take advantage of free activities and entertainment
  21. Spend more time with family and friends
  22. Be more appreciative of what I have and stop taking things for granted
  23. Resume my healthier eating habits established last year 
  24. Create a documentary about being plus size
  25. Continue seeking out acting opportunities
  26. Volunteer more
  27. Spend more time outside
  28. Try to develop some common interests with my husband
  29. Work on my marriage, strengthen and protect the integrity
  30. Find myself
  31. Get a job that makes me happy
  32. Travel more
  33. Save money
  34. Blog regularly
  35. Learn to knit or crochet

Crunching Some Numbers


I re-joined Spark People today so that I would have a place to track my progress on my fitness and weight loss goals:

  • Get to my ideal weight by 1/1/12
    • I need to consume between 1650-2000 calories/day
    • 186-325 grams of carbs/day
    • 37-78 grams of fat/day
    • 60-175 grams protein/day
    • To lose one U.S. pound (.454 kg), you must burn 3,500 more calories than you take in as food
  • I need to burn 1170 calories/week 
    • Swimming/Water aerobics-1 hr burns 679.68 calories Calorie Calculator Calorie Count
      • I plan on doing Water Aerobics twice weekly Tuesday and Thursday and possibly swimming on the weekends
    • Walking -1hr at a 3.0 Mph, Level, Moderate Pace, Firm Surface burns 560 calories
That is the plan so far!   Water Aerobics on Tuesday!  Here is to the start of a brand new lease on life!!

A New Lease On Life



I think I’ve discovered the secret of life – you just hang around until you get used to it”.




I am trying to live the best life that I know how. I will be 33 in a few weeks, and it seems there is clock is ticking inside of me to get settled and figure out what I want to be when I grow up! Tick, Tick, tick….time to start making/living the life that I want!!

I am going to use this blog to track my goals and aspirations and to celebrate my accomplishments and reflect on my failures. For the remainder of 2010-2012, I would like to:

  • get healthier
  • exercise more
  • reach ideal weight by 1-1-12 without surgery!
  • get rid of the clutter and negativity in my life
  • start saving for the future
  • start my own business
  • write a novel
  • volunteer more
  • get back into acting
  • strengthen relationships with friends and family
  • start a family
  • help others fulfill their dreams

As time goes on, I will elaborate on these goals and my progress, but for now, this is what I am working on the next few years. Wish me luck!!
